Storm not only introduced Goldie to the breakbeat, jungle and drum'n'bass universe, but was also instrumental in the success of the Metalheadz label. The enthusiastic ambassador of fast breakbeats and deep bass has an unmistakable feel for the perfect mix and the spirit of the golden years, her skills are definitely and always at their best and her selection is always extraordinary. She has been regularly curating nights for us for some time now.
We all knowDigital from his releases on Metalheadz and his own label Function. His first record was in 1994 in collaboration with Danny C - "Split Personality" / "Navigator's Path", released on the legendary Certificate 18 label. Equally groundbreaking for the genre was "Phantom Force" (1999, together with Spirit). Digital has mastered many variations: From old school beats and dubby sounds to dark tracks and liquid funk to rave anthems, anything is possible with him. He owes his characteristic basslines and his intensive involvement with dub sounds to his father, who ran his own sound system in Ipswich. He experimented so successfully with electronic sounds and equipment at a young age that he was given the nickname Digital at the age of 14.
Andrew Ferguson, also known as Outrage, began his career at the pirate radio station Shock FM in Bedford. From there he conquered the clubs and was soon given his own show on Rinse FM. Originally performing as DJ Rage, together with Amit as Tronic & Rage, he changed his name to Outrage in the early 2000s. With loud, metallic breaks, crunching synthesizers and eerie dub delay, his first releases were signed to labels such as Metalheadz and Spirits Inneractive Music, and later to Digital's Function Records. Function also released his 2024 album "Behind The Eyes", the first solo album under the alias Outrage. With Education & Bass (E&B), he founded the first online production school in the bass music world, which offers many free courses in addition to paid courses and organizes offers for schools and in prison education. A really great initiative that is making an impact on society from within the bass music scene.
The three are supported by Mr. Jay, Rollin MC and MC Jamie White.
In BOX2, the Impulse Basskultur crew has once again put together a fantastic line-up. The line-up includes Mystic State from Bristol, whose productions capture the essence of late 90s jungle, dub and ambient electronica. Turrican and B2b sets by Migz and Saiman as well as Quinten McKee and alllone will definitely tear up BOX2 again. Be sure to check it out there too.
