Director: Ana Lily Amirpour
USA 2014, 100 min., OV Persian with German subtitles, Blu-ray projection
With: Sheila Vand, Arash Marandi, Marshall Manesh, Mozhan Marnò, Dominic Rains, Rome Shadanloo
Strange things are happening in the Iranian ghost town of Bad City. The exhausted and used up, outlaws and their victims cavort here, the walls ooze crime from their pores.
But hardly anyone who lives here suspects that there is also a silent vampire on the loose in this town, a vampire on wheels. This is also the case for the young, attractive Arash. In order to pay off his father's debts, he has to hand over his beloved Ford Thunderbird to the devious dealer Saeed. Angry at everything and everyone, he roams the streets and meets a girl who is enigmatically attractive. Arash soon discovers her secret: she is a vampire. Covered in a chador, she roams the city night after night on her skateboard and relieves Bad City of many a disgusting subject. Arash and the nameless vampire girl slowly become friends. And a tender love story develops in a place where there is actually no room for it.
