Reinhard Brunner „Bewegungsmuster”

In the exhibition Bewegungsmuster, Reinhard Brunner presents a series of abstract drawings and paintings that are characterized by rhythmically oscillating, hatched surface compositions. The variously finely dotted arrangements condense into painterly surfaces and create a sensual, kinetic pictorial structure.

In terms of content, Brunner focuses on the phenomenon of movement: Using repeated, precisely executed gestures, he lays out superimposed color surface compositions, the creation and result of which are characterized by movement. If movement can be understood as transformation, these works appear as a struggle for constant change - an image that refers to social, scientific, digital and ecological transformation dynamics.

Stylistically, Brunner moves between abstract expressionism and orderly informality. With his technically transformed syringe paintings, he develops his own interpretation of a "neo-informal" and an independent abstract visual language. Art historical references lead to the radical abstract positions of American modernism of the 1950s (Francis, Pollock, Kline, Twombly) as well as to European informal representatives (including Gierke, Götz, Sonderborg, Trier).
