"Never Ending Story"

Two brothers and a kindred spirit: the Renner trio presents an unusual constellation on this evening. The combination of trombone, bass and drums is not often found in jazz history. Moritz Renner, Tabea Kind and Valentin Renner make excellent use of the spaces that open up without a harmonizing instrument. The interplay between the three creates the perfect symbiosis between freedom and well-paced precision. Renner stands for gripping solos, atmospheric compositions and an unconditionality and lightness of touch in their interplay that has often eluded bands of many years' standing. You can always hear how close the instrumentalists are to each other.

On this evening, the winners of the "European Young Artist Jazz Award 2026" and "Biberacher Jazzpreis 2024" will present their debut album "Never Ending Story". A musical documentation of the lives of two brothers who pursue the same passion: music. This is how Bayerischer Rundfunk describes what audiences can expect on the upcoming tour: 'There is incredible energy, creativity and communication in this music. So incredibly lively, exciting and at the same time incredibly beautiful (...). Nothing was missing and it was put together in perfect beauty.

The jazz festival is a cooperation between E-WERK Freiburg and jazzhaus Freiburg.
