Tove Ditlevsen's novel " Faces" was written in close proximity to the first two volumes of her acclaimed "Copenhagen Trilogy". In this work, the author uses a captivating combination of pictorial, expressive and surreal language to immerse the reader in the world of the main character, Lise Mundus, as she undergoes a lengthy stay in hospital.

The narrative takes the reader so deeply into Lise's distorted world of perception that it becomes almost painful. Lise finds herself trapped in a reality that seems to have conspired against her. An oppressive atmosphere hangs over everything like a heavy, gloomy blanket, and her trust in others dwindles visibly. Every attempt by outsiders to expose Lise's delusions as such not only seems doomed to failure, but in her eyes only reinforces the conviction that everyone is against her.

In the reading, the Marstall stage is expanded to include a virtual level through the innovative use of augmented reality glasses. Animated, virtual overlays give the audience a new perspective on theatricality and the material itself, blurring the boundaries between reality and illusion.

NOTE: For an optimal experience of the production, individual adjustment of the augmented reality glasses is required, which takes place upon admission. The AR glasses model from MagicLeap that we use is currently not compatible with conventional glasses - a combination with contact lenses is possible. We therefore offer a limited number of diopter inserts for people who wear glasses.
