RETROGRADE

In the organizer's words:

Dance theater piece by Yotam Peled with the company of the Leipziger Tanztheater

Premiere on August 23!

In "Retrograde", a landscape is revealed that makes no distinction between the human body and the body of the environment. A community lost in the wilderness is trapped in a vicious circle of collapse and recovery. This constant, absurd cycle of destruction and reconstruction requires a body that is both soft and hard, ready to transform as it collapses, decays and re-emerges.

This ritual of repetition culminates in exhaustion and eventually softness, support and intimacy emerge. During the journey, symbols, gestures and sounds associated with people and tradition seem to merge with the space, momentarily raising questions about the nature of collectivity and suggesting an unbearable coexistence of pain and hope.

An event as part of the 12th Leipzig Dance Theater Weeks.

Yotam Peled, born in Israel in 1989, is a choreographer, performer and teacher. He has lived in Berlin since 2015 and works freelance with European choreographers such as Maura Morales, Yann L'Hereux, Troels Primdahl, Jill Crovisier and Mitia Fedotenko.
