Richard-Strauss-Tage 2026
In the organizer's words:
Where Strauss was at home: classical music among mountain peaks
Since 1989, the Richard Strauss Days in Garmisch-Partenkirchen have offered an atmosphere that stands out from other festivals and allows you to feel Richard Strauss' native workshop air in a special way. We would like to offer you this special flair again in 2026.
Over a period of nine days (June 6 to 14, 2026), you will have the opportunity to experience chamber concerts, symphony concerts, song recitals, music walks, a theater performance and much more. In a variety of events with music in the hall, in nature and in public spaces, talented people of different ages will come together to artistically explore Richard Strauss and his music.
Works relating to striving in life, death and dying, late vocal works by Richard Strauss and contrapuntal music form a thematic thread in the program. Rarities include works by Franz Strauss (1820-1905), Hans von Bülow (1830-1894), Josef Gabriel Rheinberger (1839-1901) and Hermann Goetz (1840-1876).
Many outstanding artists promise special cultural experiences, including Christina Bock, Michael A. Grimm and Jobst Schneiderat. We welcome the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Rémy Ballot as Conductor in Residence, to our symphony concerts. We also look forward to the Nymphenburg String Soloists, the Dresden Chamber Soloists, the vocal ensemble amarcord and the ensemble SineQuaNon. Once again, the Opera Studio of the Mozarteum University Salzburg and the Angelika Prokopp Summer Academy of the Vienna Philharmonic will be presenting an exclusive concert opera production in Garmisch-Partenkirchen under the direction of Kai Röhrig.
The Richard-Strauss-Tage team is looking forward to your visit.
