Rituals and Intimacy / FM

In the organizer's words:

First Edition

Language: English and Spanish

FM Festival is a vibrant gathering place celebrating the rich diversity and creativity of transgressive women artists in Europe. Founded by Lucía Ogdon, Michelle Felix and Lucila Sol, we are young creatives who have crossed oceans and recognize the commitment to gender equality in the arts. The contributions of numerous women who have broken stereotypes have enriched the artistic circle, and our performing arts festival, conceived by migrant women, aims to continue this momentum.
The name "FM" stands for "frequency modulation", which symbolizes our aim to communicate and amplify female voices like an FM radio signal. This concept reflects the intimate connection and dynamic transformation we aim to cultivate by tuning female artistic experiences to resonate strongly with a diverse audience.

The idea to create the festival was born from our need to join forces and open paths in the European art scene. We have often worked together with mutual admiration and respect, with ideas, materials, perspectives, writing, meetings and sharing opinions, knowledge and experiences - until today, when we have decided to go one step further and use all this work to create a sustainable network to distribute tasks and gain access to the spaces we have always dreamed of. By reflecting on each other's work, we were able to recognize our struggles and weaknesses as strengths and creative potentials that enable legitimate and meaningful expressions in an environment where different cultural heritages collide, including key concepts such as culture, roots and identity.

We are motivated to create a dialogue with all our peers and to mobilize the female and dissident artistic community by bringing peripheral artistic potential from our Latin American cultures to the center of the European art scene.
