Rock That Joint – Now! Rockabilly Jive Workshop & Live-Musik

On Saturday, September 12, 2026, the New Swing Studio will be the place to jive, rock, and dance—with a workshop, a live band, and a Record Hop.

In the afternoon, Alison & Sönke will teach Rockabilly Jive at two different levels. There will also be a Stroll Special, which is included in the workshop price. In the evening, Crazy Dave & the Rock’a’Fellas will get the dance floor rocking. Afterward, the fun continues with a Record Hop featuring DJ Hep Cat from Bremen.

Rockabilly Jive is also a great fit if you come from a Lindy Hop or Shag background and are looking for a dance with a clear rhythm, a ’50s sound, and lots of energy.

The Workshop Classes:

1:00–2:30 p.m.
Start Movin’

For beginners with no prior Rockabilly Jive experience—whether you’re just starting out or have only attended a taster class so far. This level is also ideal if you’d like to review the Rockabilly Jive basics. The focus is on rhythm, basic moves, and getting into the groove.

Stroll Special: The Majestic

In this special session, we’ll dance “The Majestic” to the song of the same name by Dion DiMucci. The Stroll Special is included in the workshop price.

4:30–6:00 PM
Hop, Skip & Jump

For anyone who wants to continue after the first session or who already dances Rockabilly Jive. This level focuses on more moves, a faster tempo, and small challenges for more experienced jivers. You can book this level as a follow-up to “Start Movin’” or on its own if you already have some experience.

Rock That Joint @ Night:

Record Hop with DJ Hep Cat from Bremen

Crazy Dave & the Rock’a’Fellas will take you back to the ’50s and ’60s. The Hamburg-based band plays danceable rock ’n’ roll featuring American, German, and Italian songs from that era. Their original arrangements, infectious energy, and a healthy dose of humor make for a great night out for jivers, Lindy hoppers, shaggers, boppers, and everyone who loves rock ’n’ roll.

Registration:

Registration is handled through the New Swing Generation website. There, you can select which class you’d like to register for and whether you’re coming alone or with a dance partner.

Registering as a couple increases your chances of getting a spot. Please list your dance partner when registering. This person must also register themselves; otherwise, we cannot guarantee a spot.

Solo registrations are automatically placed on the waiting list and will receive confirmation as soon as we can offer a suitable spot. Please specify your dance role when registering or select “as required.”
