Romare, aka Archie Fairhurst, borrowed his name from the African-American cut-up artist Romare Bearden. For him, collage is the viable working practice for combining existing musical knowledge with the infinite possibilities of electronic music production. All of his albums and performances are made up of a global palette of source material.

On his first EP "Meditations On Afrocentrism", for example, percussion samples from Senegal meet ghost voices from Harlem and beats from garage, house and footwork. This creates global sound collages in which times, continents and identities collide.

On the subsequent release "Love Songs: Part One", he placed influences from blues and jazz in a modern context through the rhythmic playfulness of Juke. On the 2022 release "Fantasy", he incorporated elements from 1970s fantasy cinema into his distinctive, rhythmic and eccentric electronica, heralding the launch of his label "You See".

Romare's productions are full of unexpected sounds, creating extraordinary relationships and building bridges between musical cultures and identities. Stylistic boundaries only exist in our heads and can therefore be overcome.
