In the organizer's words:

The Hazara are one of the largest ethnic groups in the multi-ethnic state of Afghanistan. However, as they speak a Persian dialect, belong to Shia Islam unlike the Sunni majority and are generally much more liberal, they have been discriminated against and persecuted for generations. The singer Elaha Soroor gives them a voice. She was one of the first to perform in public after the temporary subjugation of the Taliban and won the Afghan equivalent of "Deutschland sucht den Superstar". After the return of the fundamentalist regime, she went into exile in London, where she has been upholding her culture ever since - with authentic songs in catchy arrangements that also incorporate instruments from Arabic and Indian music.
