Under the Canopy by Rosa Barba creates a space within a space that opens transparently upwards and backwards. The terrace of the MdbK is transformed into a giant camera lens that collects and projects light. You can find out why this interplay of architecture, light and perception is exactly what the artist intended in the guided tour with Jenny Graser.

Rosa Barba has created a spatial installation for the MdbK on the large terrace on the 2nd floor. In Under the Canopy , Rosa Barba addresses the physical perception of light and space. Colored glass floats in a modernist second ceiling. The result is a room within a room that opens up transparently to a space behind and above. The terrace thus becomes a giant camera lens that focuses and projects light. Through this quasi-photographic process, time - daylight in its different qualities - takes on a form. Barba thus addresses a fundamental shift: while digital spaces increasingly determine our perception, space and time remain clearly physical experiences. Barba thus emphasizes the relevance of the analogue in a digital world.
