RUBBERBAND: „Reckless Underdog“

Rubberband from Canada was founded in 2002 by choreographer Victor Quijada and immediately presented itself as an explosive and unique dance company. Victor Quijada combines the spontaneous, risky and fearless hip-hop culture of his home on the American West Coast with the choreographic sophistication of contemporary dance. The new creation "Reckless Underdog" continues the work of the last twenty years. The show with twelve dancers consists of three acts. Each part offers a unique universe in terms of stage space, aesthetic choices and music.
The first act, inspired by classical ballet, takes place in a sharply defined light space in which the rules of the pas de deux are redefined. The second, more experimental act distorts certain theatrical codes in a colorful space and confronts the bodies with an abstract and minimal approach to movement. The final act deconstructs the practice of the "Break Cypher" in a dark, oppressive but festive atmosphere.
"Reckless Underdog" promises a lyrical and figurative dissection of movement that boldly explores the boundaries of time and space.
