Rundgang mit den Architekt*innen von as-if

In the organizer's words:

The now iconic new GfZK Leipzig building in Johannapark opened over 20 years ago. It was designed and realized by as-if. The underlying question was what a building could look like in which different forms of exhibiting, researching, communicating and coming together could take place. The result is a "polygonal spatial structure" that manages almost without right angles and is constantly reconfigured by movable walls.

as-if are Paul Grundei, Stephanie Kaindl and Christian Teckert. The interdisciplinary team from Vienna develops projects at the interface of architecture, urban planning, urbanism, spatial theory and artistic intervention. Their approach is based on a special concept of space: "The 'negotiable space' is not an abstract space that exists for itself, it needs actors to emerge and be, makes those present into participants, is oriented towards processes and is determined by simultaneities."
