Sababa 5 *live*

Sababa 5 stand for a legendary and hypnotic mixture of Middle Eastern psychedelia, Mediterranean funk and analog groove that is hard to find anywhere else. Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and North African rhythms are combined with elements of rock, funk and psychedelic music. Analog sounds from the 60s and 70s - from global beat productions to classic Middle Eastern sounds - form a central point of reference. Together with influences from Japan and India, the result is a genuine and lively encounter between East and West.

Characteristic are swirling organs, surf guitars and a clear groove-oriented foundation that carries the band even when it touches on different genres. This mixture characterizes their instrumental fusion of funk, disco and oriental melodies, which both draws on vintage aesthetics and remains open to new directions.

With the single "Tokyo Midnight / Nasnusa" together with the Japanese singer Yurika, Sababa 5 came to international attention. Through further collaborations and numerous performances in Europe, they refined their style, which is clearly audible on their albums "Sababa 5", "Aspan" and "Nadir": danceable, unconventional and consistently full of energy. Music that playfully transcends cultural boundaries. Especially live, the full power of Sababa 5 unfolds: improvisation, energetic joy of playing and deep grooves merge into sound expeditions between hypnotic deep cuts, danceable dancefloor anthems and emotional ecstasy.
