Caballo Negro deliberately avoids electronic sequences and instead relies on pure joy of playing and acoustic power. The large brass section - four trombones plus baritone saxophone - provides the characteristic sound that gets the audience moving from the very first minute. Supported by a grooving rhythm section of timbales, congas, bongos and piano, the result is a sound that could have come straight from the Bronx in the 70s - inspired by salsa greats such as Willie Colón, Héctor Lavoe and Rubén Blades.

In their songs, Caballo Negro talk about love, pride, failure and solidarity - powerful themes, packaged in equally powerful music.
