Inner Reflection with Liza Ferschman and the KAP: Music by Shostakovich, Raminta Šerkšnytė, and the Bach Family

Liza Ferschman’s deep-seated love for music is evident in every note she plays. The Dutch violinist and the KAP share a close collaboration, characterized by an irrepressible curiosity that opens up new dimensions of sound. She returns to the Friedenskirche with a musical journey spanning the Baroque, Romantic, and Soviet modern periods to the present day.

Raminta Šerkšnytė’s music captivates with its poetic essence. Rich textures and melancholy permeate her “Winter Night,” which subtly weaves together the works of the Bach family this evening. Shostakovich also draws on the Baroque tradition in his Violin Sonata, in which powerful emotions such as the fear of death and hope are portrayed musically with particular impact within the atmosphere of the church.
