Ilya Gringolts is always on the lookout for new musical challenges with his highly virtuosic yet subtle playing. He is just as much in demand as a specialist in historical performance practice as he is as an accomplished interpreter of contemporary works.

He also demonstrates this impressive balancing act in his KAP debut by duetting a 20th century masterpiece with atmospheric baroque music. Frank Martin chose a special instrumentation for his work "Polyptyque": solo violin and two small string orchestras. He was inspired by the six panels of the Passion story, the content of which he realizes in a very sensitive compositional manner, while also hinting at his pronounced love of Baroque music, especially Johann Sebastian Bach.

A cross-epochal evening that focuses on the versatility of the violin and tells moving stories.
