The daughter is standing in the apartment of her suddenly deceased mother. Her mother is gone, as are all her savings. What remains are questions: Why is the apartment so chaotic, the letterbox so full? And how is it even possible to lose your own mother to a marriage fraudster? Sarah Kuttner tells the story of a woman who was looking for love and met a love scammer. Who fell in love and closed her eyes. Who left nothing behind but a seemingly endless chat with the scammer. But above all, it is the story of a daughter who is left with a blank space where her mother once was. So the daughter reads the messages that were not meant for her, reads things about herself that she never wanted to know. And yet, very slowly, the empty space fills with a closeness that was not possible for either of them during their lifetime. In "Mama & Sam", Sarah Kuttner describes an exceptional situation that is not at all rare. About the feeling of guilt, the pain of being left behind and the unwanted intimacy of an inheritance.

Sarah Kuttner was born in Berlin in 1979 and works as a presenter and author. She became famous with her programs "Sarah Kuttner - Die Show" (VIVA) and "Kuttner." (MTV) and has worked several times for ARD. At zdf.neo, she hosted the big city magazine "Bambule" and the talk show "Kuttner plus Zwei". Since 2016, she has produced and hosted the monthly event series "Kuttners schöne Nerdnacht" and since 2017 she has hosted the podcast "Das kleine Fernsehballett" on Deezer together with Stefan Niggemeier. Her columns for the Süddeutsche Zeitung and Musikexpress have been published by Fischer Taschenbuch Verlag. Her first novel "Mängelexemplar" was published in 2009 and was on the bestseller list for weeks. This was followed by the novels "Wachstumsschmerz" (2011), "180 Grad Meer" (2015) and "Kurt" (2019).
