For 50 years, the amateur photographer and former archivist of the German Maritime Museum, Klaus-Peter Kiedel, has captured special moments of Bremerhaven's maritime side. With his trained eye and friendly relationships in the nautical world, he has repeatedly succeeded in capturing unique perspectives and motifs.

Kiedel's black-and-white photos span the arc from the time when classic general cargo ships with masts and loading booms still characterized the image of the ports to the container shipping and car transporters of the present day. His photographs of tugboats and pilot boats, locks and cranes, landscape impressions and shipyards focus on Bremerhaven's function as a port city.
