Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival 2025 - Aynur

She is the outstanding, iconic voice of the Kurdish people: for a quarter of a century, Aynur has been combining the traditional colors of her homeland - such as the bard songs and the ancient and modern poetry of Kurdistan - with classical, jazz and pop music from the West. She studied singing and the lute instrument Bağlama in Istanbul and made her big breakthrough in 2004 with the song "Keçe Kurdan", which is dedicated to Kurdish girls. Concerts all over the world - including with star cellist Yo-Yo Ma - followed, and director Fatih Akın portrayed her in his film "Crossing the Bridge - The Sound of Istanbul". Aynur's current program "Rabe" ("Stand up!" in the Kurmanji dialect) is celebrated as the highlight of her work. Love poetry, spirituality and an indomitable will to freedom merge here with multi-layered soundscapes. Folklore flair, meditative interludes, jazzy improvisations, but also many gripping, funky moments that get straight to the body - look forward to an atmospheric and lively Werftsommer evening!
