Potsdam in Brandenburg is known for its many castles. The ProPotsdam Schlösserlauf runs past some of them. It has been held annually at the beginning of June since 2004 and has had its current name since 2008.
Participants in the ProPotsdam Schlösserlauf can register for a half marathon or a ten-kilometer run. The registration fee includes a finisher's medal and a T-shirt. In addition, half marathon runners can attend the pasta party, which takes place the day before the race and on the morning of the race, at no extra cost. Ten-kilometer runners can purchase pasta on site for an additional charge. Children can take part in the jK Kids Run over 1,000 meters and will also receive a medal.
The start of the ProPotsdam Schlösserlauf is at the Sportpark Luftschiffhafen Potsdam. The half marathon runners start 20 minutes before the ten-kilometer runners. They pass sights such as the Brandenburg Gate on Luisenplatz, Babelsberg Palace in Babelsberg Park, the Marble Palace in the New Garden and the bell tower at Bornstedt Cemetery. They also cross several bridges over the Havel. The half-marathon and ten-kilometer routes meet in Sanssouci Park and run along Sanssouci Palace towards the finish line, which is also located at the Sportpark Luftschiffhafen Potsdam.
