DESIGN INDIVIDUAL RINGS YOURSELF

Inspired by the 5,000-year-old lost wax technique, you will experience real goldsmithing in this workshop! Workshop leader Elina is a jewelry designer from Berlin and can hardly wait to help you design your individual dream ring. After you have made a wax mold of your ring in this course, Elina will cast the ring in precious metal and send you your new favorite ring 2-3 weeks later. Don't worry, your (wax) ring is in good hands, because Elina not only trained at the goldsmith school in Pforzheim, but also studied design and founded her own jewelry label. She is also keen to establish sustainable jewelry produced in Germany. Let's be honest: it doesn't get any better than that.

ATTENTION: The workshop fee only includes the design course on wax. The costs for further processing amount to a further €90 - €160, depending on the size of the ring and choice of material.

ABOUT THE LOST-WAX TECHNIQUE:

In the lost-wax technique (also known as the lost-wax process ), the wax model is encased in an embedding compound, which will later serve as a casting mold for the precious metal. Precious metal is poured into the mold through a pouring hole in the mold. The hot metal melts the wax, which can escape from the mold through an exit hole. When the precious metal mass cools down, the mold can be removed. What remains is your ring, to which Elina's skilled hand adds the finishing touches.

TO THE WORKSHOP:

In this workshop, you will design your individual ring by realizing your specific design idea in a wax model in consultation with Elina. Of course, we also have some templates to inspire you. You decide on site with Elina how your wax model should be finished after the workshop: Should it be silver, blackened, coated with a thin layer of gold, matt or polished? 2-3 weeks after the course, you will finally receive your dream ring by post.

HOW YOU PREPARE YOURSELF:

• Gather inspiration: scour Pinterest and Instagram to collect ideas for your ring. Feel free to bring pictures and images of rings that you like.
