School's Out - It's Bigband Time! - NDR Bigband und der WRS Bigband

Concert by the NDR Bigband and the WRS Bigband of the Wilhelm Raabe School

Promoting young musicians is an integral part of the NDR Bigband's work. As part of its school tour, the renowned radio band travels to a federal state in the northern German broadcasting area twice a year. In February 2026, Lower Saxony is on the program, including the city of Lüneburg: Together with jazz-loving students from the Wilhelm Raabe School, the NDR Bigband will give a concert in the music school of the Hanseatic city of Lüneburg.
In the first set of the concert evening, the WRS Bigband will present its skills under the direction of Alexander Gums.
In the second set, the NDR Bigband under the direction of Charlie Bates will play excerpts from his program "Sketches of Hope".

In addition to an impressive concert experience, the NDR Bigband's main aim with the school tour is to get young people excited about jazz and to promote exchange with up-and-coming musicians.
