Are you between 14 and 20 years old? Have you ever liked a poem or a song lyric? Or read an advertising slogan that you thought was somehow special?

"lyrix" invites you to spend a few hours playing with words, rhythm and meaning. The more languages you have, the better! No previous knowledge is required.

The poetry workshop will be led by writer André Schinkel at the Military History Museum of the German Armed Forces in Dresden and will take place on October 6 from 1 to 6 p.m. (including breaks).

The event is a cooperation between lyrix - the national competition for young poets and the Military History Museum of the German Armed Forces in Dresden.

About the author

André Schinkel was born in 1972 in Eilenburg in northern Saxony and grew up in Bad Düben and Holzweißig in the Bitterfeld mining district. Trained as a cattle breeder with A-levels in Halle and the Saale district. Studied environmental engineering, art history, German studies and prehistoric archaeology in Wernigerode and Halle, graduating with a master's degree in German studies and archaeology in 2001. Freelance author, editor, publisher and workshop leader since 2005.
André Schinkel's extensive work has received numerous awards and parts of it have been translated into 20 languages. He has been a member of the Saxon Academy of Arts since 2018. His most recent books of poetry are "Mondlabyrinth" (2024) and "Tefaha osul-jan" (Arabic, 2025).
