Schumann meets Jazz - KINDERSZENEN
In the organizer's words:
An extraordinary jazz trio approaches the romantic sound world of
Robert Schumann in a very unique way. With the musicians Jörg Kaufmann
(saxophones, flutes), Mathias Haus (vibraphone) and Conrad Noll (double bass,
cello), Schumann's Kinderszenen op.15 are reinterpreted in a chamber music setting
reinterpreted in a chamber music setting - inspired by contemporary jazz
but still deeply rooted in Schumann's original language.
The musical approach is not a crossover in the usual sense, but rather
rather an independent world of sound is created in which the poetry of the romantic
character pieces for piano meets elements from jazz. The
lyrical essence of the Kinderszenen is preserved, but at the same time it is
but at the same time sheds new light on them by changing harmonic colors, new rhythmic
new rhythmic perspectives or free formal arrangements.
The trio brings together three musicians with many years of experience at the interface of
classical music, free improvisation and modern jazz. The
instrumentation creates a transparent, chamber music-like
that respectfully reflects the depth of the original - and at the same time is open to new sonic discoveries.
