The Gaza conflict is currently on people's minds and is causing a rapid rise in anti-Semitism in many countries - including Germany. The historian Dr. Sebastian Voigt (Munich) explores the origins and changes in this structural, sometimes violent anti-Semitism in his much-discussed book 'Der Judenhass. A story without end? In it, he outlines important elements of political, religious and cultural anti-Judaism over the past 2,500 years. Voigt will focus on one facet of this, anti-Semitism from the "left", at the event. This involves anti-Semitic roots in the labor movement of the 19th and 20th centuries, which persist in left-wing extremist groups of the 20th and 21st centuries. At the same time, his book is a passionate call for courageous resistance against today's anti-Semitism.
The event is being held in cooperation with the Fritz Hüser Society. Moderator: Dr. Jens Becker (Fritz Hüser Society)
