Sein und Schein in Theresienstadt

In the organizer's words:

Exhibition opening on 16.01.2026

This exhibition features exhibits connected to two January events, the reading "The Girls from Room 28" and the lecture "The Happy Orphan".

The text and picture panels for "The Girls of Room 28" reflect the everyday life of 12-14-year-old girls in the ghetto, an everyday life woven from fear and despair, hope and courage.

The pictures by the Terezín painters Bedřich Fritta and Leo Haas show appearance and reality, pictures commissioned by the SS as well as secretly painted pictures that capture reality. David Haas tells the story of these pictures and the two artists in his lecture "The Happy Orphan".

The exhibition will open on January 16, 2026 before the musical reading

"The Girls from Room 28" opens.

Free admission.

The exhibition can be visited during regular opening hours Mon-Fri from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and can be seen in the Piscator Hall until March 16, 2026.
