Mario Adorf spent six decades on stage or in front of the camera and has made it from a physical villain actor to a serious character actor who, in the finest Brechtian tradition, always keeps a little distance from his characters. The documentary portrait travels with the now 88-year-old actor through the stages of his life and career, with the memories and anecdotes of the charming narrator being masterfully combined with many excerpts from his films. A personal portrait in which his private life is of secondary importance because his (film) work takes center stage.
