Shabazz Palaces

Shabazz Palaces is an innovative and experimental hip-hop duo from Seattle, Washington. Formed in 2009, the group consists of Ishmael Butler, formerly a member of the influential 1990s rap group Digable Planets, and multi-instrumentalist Tendai "Baba" Maraire. Shabazz Palaces is known for pushing the boundaries of conventional hip-hop and incorporating elements of avant-garde jazz, electronic beats and Afrofuturism into their sound.

Their debut album "Black Up", released in 2011, was critically acclaimed for its unique soundscapes and poetic lyrics. Shabazz Palaces often explore complex themes touching on social issues, spirituality and the African diaspora, creating a thought-provoking and immersive musical experience.

The duo continues to be a driving force in the alternative hip-hop scene, consistently challenging traditional norms and expanding the possibilities of the genre. With their distinctive blend of cosmic beats and insightful lyrics, Shabazz Palaces remain a standout in the realm of experimental hip-hop.

With "Exotic Birds Of Prey", the duo have now announced a new mini-album including 7 songs. Among them is the single "Angela", a collaboration with Stas Thee Boss and Irene Barber. In May, we can also look forward to the corresponding live shows to accompany the new music.
