The exhibition shows over 100 original posters by one of the most influential and internationally renowned Japanese graphic designers and poster artists - Shigeo Fukuda. These include his most renowned and best-known works from five decades, created between the 1970s and his death in 2009.
Fukuda's use of optical illusions brought a new character to the international design scene. His influence on poster art was groundbreaking and inspired generations. His posters are often humorous and always masterfully realized. Many of his works have won international awards.
René Grohnert, director of the German Poster Museum at the Folkwang, will give a short introductory speech.
