Shtetl Berlin and RomaTrial present:

SHTETL-FEST! Shtetl Berlin, the grassroots festival of Yiddish culture, celebrates the glittering finale of this year's festival edition, for the first time in the Grüner Salon!

With YURIY GURZHY & THE jUKRAINIANS (photo), FORSHPIL DUO, the SHTETL BERLIN FESTIVAL BAND and DJ SHNEY

YURIY GURZHY & THE jUKRAINIANS
Yuriy Gurzhy, DJ, singer, guitarist, composer, author and activist from Kharkiv and Berlin, brings his latest project: the jUkrainians! Yuriy gathers some of his favorite musical collaborators for an intense, thoughtful and absolutely entertaining journey through his own heritage, a reflection of cultural roots in a contemporary soundscape of beats, folk songs, smart lyrics, stories and good-humored, spontaneous music making.

To listen to, enjoy, celebrate and dance to!

With Yuriy Gurzhy (vocals, guitar, electronics), Katya Tasheva (vocals), Christian Dawid (clarinet, saxophone) and Daria Fomina (flutes, vocals)

FORSHPIL DUO
This is what traditional Jewish music sounds like in 2024! Forshpil infuses traditional Yiddish songs with new excitement and Hasidic nigunim and klezmer melodies with modern rhythms, harmonies and instruments. Centuries-old songs of love and despair are infused with psychedelic rock, funk, jazz and other addictive substances. Deeply rooted in tradition, this unlikely mixture seems strangely authentic. If Pink Floyd and the Doors had ever jammed together at a Jewish wedding, this is what it would have sounded like!

With Sasha Lurje (vocals) and Ilya Shneyveys (keyboards, electronics)

SHTETL BERLIN FESTIVAL BAND
No festival without a spontaneous gathering of musical co-conspirators! The Shtetl Berlin Festival Band brings together some of the best Yiddish musicians from Berlin and elsewhere to make you dance to traditional klezmer music the way it should be played and the way it's most fun.

With Craig Judelman (violin), Ilya Shneyveys (keys, percussion), Sanne Möricke (accordion), Christian Dawid (clarinet, tuba), Sasha Lurje (vocals, percussion) and most likely a few others

DJ SHNEY
Yiddish Electronica from New York! Dance to the hard to resist beats of DJ Shney, also known as the extremely versatile Ilya Shneyveys.
