In the summer of 1954, US Marshals Edward Daniels and Chuck Aule begin an investigation at Ashecliffe Hospital, a clinic for mentally ill criminals located on an island off the coast of Massachusetts: Shutter Island. - Rachel Solando, a child murderer, has disappeared from her locked cell without a trace. When a hurricane hits, the two marshals are trapped on the island. But is the hunt for Rachel Solando really the only reason Edward Daniels has come to Shutter Island?

Filmed in 2010 by Martin Scorsese with Leonardo DiCaprio in the leading role. Now adapted for the stage by Theater Essen-Süd.
