Silent Dialogues

In the organizer's words:

The exhibition "Silent Dialogues" brings together two young photographers: Sophia Marie Gerding and Maximilian Schmidt are showing their current analog works at the Atelierhaus, Schützenbahn 19 in Essen's city center. The two artists have been friends for many years and share a common artistic practice.

The exhibition focuses on themes such as the body, closeness and identity. The photographs are exclusively analog - as a deliberate alternative to fast digital image production. Grain, imperfection and light become narrative elements between confrontation and vulnerability. "Silent Dialogues" invites visitors to rediscover the analog as a decelerated and authentic form of encounter.

The exhibition shows series by both artists that open up different perspectives and at the same time enter into a silent dialog. The works move between documentary moments and very personal pictorial spaces.

Opening / Vernissage
The exhibition will open on Friday, April 11, 2026, from 18:00 to 22:00. Visitors are cordially invited to the vernissage - with free drinks and live music.

Directions to Schützenbahn 19, 45127 Essen
The location is easily accessible from Essen Central Station.
It takes about 15-20 minutes on foot via Kettwiger Straße towards the city center.

By public transport, take streetcar 106 or 107 from Essen main station to the "Viehofer Platz" stop . From there it is a 1-2 minute walk to Schützenbahn 19.

There is also a small parking garage right next to the location that can be used.
