Sky Concert

It's summer! The evenings are warm and long, the view sweeps over the rooftops of Berlin and then... Stegreif music!?! Once again, the Stegreif Orchestra has chosen a very special place in Berlin as its concert venue: The Teufelsberg. With the Sky Concert program, we invite you to experience the Teufelsberg musically. A concert course of music, improvisation and architecture unfolds between the iconic domes of the former listening station. Music and contemporary history merge and bring the Teufelsberg musically to life.

On the Teufelsberg, vastness meets urban spirit and cathedral-like reverberation meets acoustic intensity. To make this diversity tangible for the audience, they roam through four sound stations that uncover the history of the mountain layer by layer - from its foundation of war rubble, to its secret role in the Cold War, to its present-day meaning: a place of contemporary history and urban art. Chamber music ensembles from the Stegreif Orchestra will appear again and again between the colorful street art, merging with the audience and architecture to create a lively concert parcours. The evening will conclude with a performance by the entire orchestra with cross-genre original compositions that build a musical bridge to the present day.

You can expect a unique musical experience - a concert in motion - between memory, transformation and communal freedom. The audience is invited to explore the site and become part of a lively sound journey through Berlin's history.

ADMISSION: 1 hour before the concert starts
DURATION: 3.5 hours

The duration of 3.5 hours results from the special concert format: the audience will walk through the stations of the Teufelsberg one after the other in several groups and experience each stage from a different perspective. The paths and transitions are deliberately generously designed to enable inclusion, individual freedom of movement and a relaxed arrival. At the end, all groups come together in a fifth station for a joint finale.
