In the organizer's words:

The veins of Hamburg intersect at Schulterblatt, street kids meet trendy neighborhood, in the heart of the pulsating Hanseatic city all stereotypes and genres converge and merge into one big whole.
And it is precisely there, at the hub of culture, that the heart of Hamburg's slam scene beats! At Haus73, newcomers, local heroes and scene stars meet in a literal language duel, rhyme for rhyme, joke for joke, iambus and trochee run hand in hand in the face-to-face battle against the funny story and the rapped Dada poem - that's Slam the Pony!
The melting pot of Hamburg's spoken word movement, as long as it is self-written and in time, everything is allowed here, from poetry to larifari to pure literature. For over 20 years, "the Pony" has been one of the most popular and traditional slams in Germany, winning over thousands of people time and time again, every month anew.
