slow*screens #3 – Community Film Nights

In the organizer's words:

At the last slow*screens evening, we will watch two great films that deal with the overarching theme HERE & THERE. In the films, the protagonists embark on cinematic journeys between cities, memories and family connections, exploring utopias, self-image and spaces of in-between-ness. ✨

The main film we are showing is"Dreams in Nightmares" 🎥, which screened at this year's Berlinale: Three black, queer Fems in their mid-30s go on a road trip to look for their friend who has seemingly disappeared without a trace - an ode to the chosen family and the radical act of taking the space to dream in an increasingly torn country. 🌙🚗

As a supporting film, we will be showing the short film "1, 2, 3 - Kimchi!" by Hakyung Kang, a filmmaker from the Ruhr area: this experimental documentary focuses on the connection between Kang's family history of migration and her current reality as a migrant in Germany - an autobiographical short film about migration as a complex network of remnants in bodies, documents and memories. 📚💭

The last cozy film evening was curated by Linda Verweyen from Freie Szene Film Dortmund. We look forward to seeing you! 💜
