SMILE AND BURN are known for their wild live concerts, humorous online presence, clear political stance and forward-thinking sound. On their seventh studio album "Are you proud of me?", the cards are almost completely reshuffled.

A new seriousness and gravity has taken hold and the tongue-in-cheek gallows humor that used to run through the lyrics has given way to introspective self-reflection. The band deals with the charged term "pride" in a personal sense, releasing the most dense work in their discography in terms of content.

More experiments with sound, an airier song structure, uncompromisingly melancholic lyrics, just nothing repetitive: The punk rock that SMILE AND BURN play on their 12-track album is more bony and reduced than we've heard from the band before. The sound of "Are you proud of me?" transports and complements the thoughtful, dark mood of the lyrics. More post than pogo - and yet absolutely suitable for live music.

It is the saddest and most honest work the band has delivered in its 16-year history. Available digitally, on CD, vinyl and in various bundles from 26.07.24 and can be heard live on tour in fall 2024.
