“This Is What the Future Sounds Like!” – Charity Concert by the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben at the Elbphilharmonie
On October 4, 206, the German Music Life Foundation will once again host a benefit concert at the Elbphilharmonie, showcasing its highly talented scholarship recipients. This year’s guest star will be percussionist and alumnus Alexej Gerassimez: he will perform with a string quartet and will also present one of his own compositions. The Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben string orchestra will be conducted by Felicitas Schiffner, who will make her conducting debut at the Elbphilharmonie. Friederike Westerhaus of NDR Kultur will serve as the evening’s host .
In various chamber music ensembles, around 25 young musicians will showcase their stylistic diversity and great skill throughout the evening. Among those performing on the stage of the main hall are the string orchestra of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben—assembled especially for this concert—a clarinet trio featuring the winner of the 2026 German Music Competition, Constantin Heise (cello), and a piano trio. The program includes works by Franz Schubert, Edward Grieg, Louise Farrenc, and Alexej Gerassimez, among others.
Based in Hamburg, the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben has been supporting top young musical talent since 1962. Approximately 300 scholarship recipients receive long-term, individualized support through the loan of valuable string instruments, scholarships, sponsorships, and performance opportunities with partner organizations such as festivals and major orchestras.
