Lights on, clear the stage! In the theater, people step into the light so that the audience can watch them and identify with them. But what about those who shy away from the limelight? What about the issues that need the protection of anonymity, like democracy needs the ballot box? How can the intimacy of conversations be transferred to the theater after the lights have gone out? Listening is easier with your eyes closed. Whether in confession, in the darkroom, in the stock market, in chat forums, on the phone or during a power cut: without light and face, space is created for a side of society that shies away from glamor.

In "Société Anonyme", darkness provides stories and storytellers with protection from shame, fear and judgment. From dark web to telephone counseling, behind the veil of the hijab or the darkened window of a limousine, with whistleblowers and the hacker group Anonymous ... The image of a different city develops in the darkroom.

After "World Climate Conference", Stefan Kaegi from Rimini Protokoll returns to the Deutsches SchauSpielHaus to take the audience into the underexposed areas of coexistence with invisible performers and technically sophisticated, expansive audio technology. It is commonly said: "What you see is what you get." But since Mackie Messer, it's also clear what's being missed: "You can't see those in the dark."

Please note: In keeping with the theme of the evening, the play deals with experiences of racist and ableist discrimination, sexual and psychological violence and addictive behavior. The event takes place in the dark, is not suitable for people allergic to scents and is recommended for people aged 18 and over.

"Société Anonyme" is a production of Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, in cooperation with Rimini Protokoll and Residenz Schauspiel Leipzig.
