After the Swiss collective Soft Loft had already caused a stir with their debut album, they docked onto the international network last year to release their single Leave The Light On. At the same time, the quintet announced the 6-track EP titled Modern Roses, which was released on April 25th via [PIAS] Germany. This collection of six songs is dedicated to affection and the small gestures we make to close the distance between us, if only for a little bit. It's also about all the wonderful ways we fail - the loneliness, the longing, the miscommunication, leaving someone and being left behind. All of this is processed on the EP in deep, vibrating, psychedelically colored vibrations that swing back and forth between melancholy and ecstasy.

Soft Loft make music that breaks open your shell, reinterprets the broken and devastated and makes you fall head over heels in love with your fallibility and your humanity. Music that is stylistically described by the band around singer and songwriter Jorina Stamm herself as indie-something-something. Their songs are like a late-night conversation between trusted friends.

The material on Modern Roses was written in the band's secret hideaway - a cozy house with what Jorina calls a magical garden in the Ticino town of Barico. It was recorded on the outskirts of Dresden, in a disused hotel. The band produced it themselves, accompanied by their trusted sound engineer. They spent days experimenting with arrangements and sound design. Above all, however, they searched for a deeper and deeper connection with each other, which explains why the vibe here is so unique and finely layered. Soft Loft are an insider's tip, at home in the scene, but you wouldn't be surprised if they opened for Taylor Swift one day. In 2023, Soft Loft self-released the EP In Case You Still Get Lonely, followed by their debut album The Party and the Mess a year later, both produced by Grammy-nominated producer Gianluca Buccellati, who has also worked with Lana Del Rey and Arlo Parks. Within a very short time, the band played their own shows in London, Paris and Berlin as well as at top-class festivals such as The Great Escape, Reeperbahn Festival, MS Dockville, Maifeld Derby and the Montreux Jazz Festival.
