Somatic water practice, contact improvisation & embodiment in warm water
Somatic Water Dance (SOWADA) is a holistic movement and body practice in water that combines elements of water therapy, contact improvisation, somatic bodywork and prenatal movement intelligence.
The warm water creates a protected space for presence, regeneration and authentic encounters. Carried by the buoyancy of the water and accompanied by breath, mindfulness and intuitive movement, SOWADA invites you to perceive your body in a new way and allow movement to emerge naturally.
The practice combines free movement in the water with conscious body awareness, gentle touch and non-verbal communication. Alone, as a couple or in a group, the water becomes an experiential space for trust, letting go and embodied connection.
SOWADA creates a mindful and held framework in which inner processes can unfold through movement. Resistance, tension and emotion can soften in the water and start to move.
Water helps the body to let go of control and allow movements to develop organically. The buoyancy relieves pressure on the joints, calms the nervous system and creates a feeling of safety and support.
