Sommer auf der Kulturinsel am Gasteig HP8

In the organizer's words:

Whether it's dance, music, yoga, graffiti or chess: there will be plenty of culture on the Kulturinsel am Gasteig HP8 from June. Free of charge and for everyone.

Last summer it was brought to life, the culture island on the square at the Kulturkraftwerk: flexible raised beds, an open bookcase and wooden benches that can be used as seating or a stage as required. An outdoor chess board complements the creative area.

This summer, the Gasteig is going one better: free concerts, creative hands-on activities and exercise for everyone will ensure a summer feeling on the island.

Just in time for World Yoga Day on June 21, yoga fans and those who want to become one can start the day together with the sun salutation or the downward facing dog. If you don't have time on Friday, you can come back on Sunday, June 23: There's yoga for everyone at 10 a.m. in Hall E.

Lunchtime music can be heard on Thursday, June 27: under the title "Kulturlieferdienst goes Gasteig HP8", the band "Black Patti" will be performing from 12 noon. The blues & roots musicians Peter Crow C. and Ferdinand "Jelly Roll" Kraemer tell handmade and uncensored stories that life writes in their songs.

On Thursday, July 4 at 9:30 a.m., the little ones are in demand: cotton bags are turned into works of art with bright colors.

A special chess event starts on Wednesday, July 17 from 3 p.m.: Chess masters Jana Schneider and Svenja Butenandt will battle it out for the king with commentary from chess legend Helmut Pfleger - including tips and blitz games afterwards.

Anyone who has always wanted to learn the styles of graffiti can take part in another graffiti workshop on Tuesday, July 23. DJ TC-Cut then invites you to after-work hip-hop from 6 p.m.: With two turntables in his hands, he produces DJ sets that sound unique.

And on Sunday, July 28, things will get really colorful once again: from 10 a.m., everyone can either design bags in workshops or create bandanas with natural dyes.
