Energetic firefighter meets despondent archivist - Michaela Maria Müller's new novel "Zonen der Zeit" (Quintus Verlag) tells the story of two people who could hardly be more different. A text as tender and beautiful as a blues song.
Vida has spent her whole life on an island in the north and has never questioned her future. But that changes when Marie moves into the house next door - with bag and baggage, a mermaid costume and a completely different idea of happiness (Alexandra Blöchl: "Was das Meer verspricht" // dtv).
They meet on "Crack Hill" on the Paris ring road: Charles, Melanie and Farida and all the others who don't know where to go. In his masterfully drawn reportage "Am Hügel" (avant-verlag), told in rap lyrics, Constantin Satüpo tells of addiction, violence and hopelessness - and of true friendship.
