Roman Yusipey accordion

Roman Yusipey was born in 1979 in the Ukrainian city of Kherson. He studied at the Academy of Music in Kiev, the Hanover University of Music, the Folkwang University in Essen (master's degree) and the Cologne University of Music (concert exam). As a soloist, he has given over 80 concerts with orchestras conducted by Andrey Boreyko, Roman Kofman, Daniel Raiskin, Raymond Jannsen and Vladimir Sirenko.

He works closely with the composer Olga Rayeva, who has already written three solo works and a concerto for him in 2023. He has also worked with composers such as Sofia Gubaidulina, to whom the Konzerthaus Dortmund has dedicated an entire concert series in 2024, Giya Kantscheli, Helmut Zapf, Gerhard Stäbler and Dmitri Kourliandski and has performed the world premieres of their works.

Roman Yusipey has recently performed at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Jena Philharmonie, Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Mozarteum Salzburg, Salle Cortot Paris, the Winnipeg Winter New Music Festival and the Kronberg Festival.
