Few issues currently divide society as much as migration. Yet it has been with us all since the beginning of human history. This is exactly what the special exhibition "Two Million Years of Migration" at the Neanderthal Museum in Mettmann shows.

Based on the latest scientific findings, we take a close look at four major prehistoric migratory movements: the origins of humans in Africa, the paths taken by Homo erectus and Homo sapiens, the encounter between Anatolian farmers and European hunter-gatherers 7,500 years ago and the genetic traces of Eurasian steppe nomads that still have an impact in Europe today. An interactive journey that shows us how mobility has shaped our history and continues to do so today.

The exhibition invites us not only to trace global mobility historically, but also to reflect on our own origins and discover how closely they are interwoven with migration.
