The original idea for SONNENPLÄTZE was the "disillusionment of a patriarch": What if someone who has always set an example of how to lead a life suddenly turns out to be an impostor?

When the unsuccessful up-and-coming author Sam (Julia Windischbauer) is left by her boyfriend, she takes the key to the family's vacation home on Lanzarote without her mother Sybille's (Juliane Köhler) knowledge. She wants to finally finish writing her novel in the seclusion of the island.
But it's not just her brother Frederick (Jeremias Meyer) who wants to accompany her. Her father Jo (Niels Bormann), a former bestselling author who had to give up the house to Sam's mother after their divorce, has also set up home there without her knowledge. Sybille herself joins the three squatters a little later, she wants to sell the house and arrives with her new, younger partner Marc (Jeremy Mockridge). So father, mother, daughter
