In this sound and dance performance, Muriel Razavi (viola) and Raha Nejad (dance) tell the stories of "Eve's Daughters" together.
This concert will feature the German premieres of the works commissioned this year from Iranian female composers for viola solo! Raha developed a dance concept for this music with which she embodies and performs the messages of the music in a sensitive and expressive way.
Raha and Muriel have been working together for many years, focusing artistically on the very complex lives of women in and from the MENA region, which are strongly influenced by the politics of their countries and their times.
The program "Eve's Daughters" is based on the poem "Ancient Eve" by the Iranian poet Simin Behbahani and is a further development of Muriel's solo performance "ancient eve is once again offering apples".
The Sounseed Festival will take place in Leipzig for the first time in 2024 and will highlight female composers from the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa) in its program. This year's festival is dedicated to Iranian female composers and aims to create new listening experiences through the fascinating mix of contemporary classical music and elements of the Persian music tradition and to encourage discourse over a drink afterwards. The Soundseed Festival will take place annually and each edition describes a new stage in the creation of the world and life. The creation stories of many cultures begin in darkness, in the universe, in nothingness. This is the place of our origin and our common cradle.
