Spatzenliebe – Entdeckungstour, Lesung und Gespräch

Noch niemand hat sich das Event gemerkt.

In the organizer's words:

Birding has long since become more than just a niche trend: More and more people—especially younger ones—are discovering the birdlife right on their own doorsteps. In parks, backyards, and on balconies, people are listening, watching, and trying to figure it out: Is that a blackbird, a goldfinch, or even an oriole?

But sometimes it’s worth taking a closer look at the bird we think we’ve known for ages: the sparrow.

This afternoon,Antonia Coenen and Philipp Juranek are focusing on one of the most charming and underappreciated urban dwellers of all. Why do sparrows feel so at home in our midst, of all places? How do these little sparrows live amid the hustle and bustle of the big city—and why are they disappearing in so many places despite that? For centuries, they’ve accompanied us humans through cities, stories, art, and everyday life.

Together, we’ll go on a quest to uncover the answers: How social are sparrows really? What do they need to survive in the city? And what can we do to ensure their cheerful chirping continues?

To kick things off, we’ll take a short discovery tour around the library and observe the sparrows right there on the spot. Afterward, we’ll head back to the cozy courtyard for a reading from “Vogel entdeckt – Herz verloren” and an open discussion.
