It remains to be seen whether AI itself is sentient or merely spits out randomly selected, unconscious data points. Perhaps both are the case, but do humans function differently? The panel discussion attempts to narrow the often propagated gap between the notion of AI as a tool on the one hand or sentient being on the other by focusing on the practices that form the interface between human and machine. How can a speculative practice that reinvents AI contribute to changing our understanding of AI and its capabilities? And how does 'being with' machines enable us to challenge the reductive representation of machines as disembodied, objective and rational, as something detached from culture?
